WE HAVE A CLOSING DATE!

We received an email late on Friday stating that we have an official closing date! Yay! Yay! Yay!

New Home Orientation - Monday, November 3rd @ 10 am
This is where they'll show us how the house works!

Settlement - Wednesday, November 5th @ 11:30 am
We get to sign all the paper and finally get the keys! Woohoo!!!

Also, this just started to feel real - we're less than a month and half away!  We'll get to move into our forever home and finally get settled!  I feel like we've had stuff packed away for so long now that with having the house on the market for the first part of the year, living in an in between home while we build - I can't wait to unpack and decorate!

So, now I really need to start figuring out paint colors and a couch!!! And a schedule for moving!  And turn on utilities! The list goes on...

Oh, and we need to get all of our paperwork pulled together for NVR (bank statements, updated paychecks, etc) and start watching the interest rates so we can lock our rates.  Fun times ahead!

Did you get your closing date later than the norm?

  1. Congrats! For paint, if you like Sherwin Willams, get in their 40% off sale that ends Monday pronto! You do NOT have to get it tinted when you buy if you don't know your colors. You can buy untinted, then go back later and get it tinted for free. You can also combine the easily found $15 off of $75 coupon. We just bought 20 gallons of untinted paint and saved around $600. Also if you overbuy, you can return any untinted for a full refund in the future.

    1. 20 GALLONS?!? Where ae you storing that? Are you painting every room in the house??? That sounds like a lot of paint -now I'm panicking over how much we will need!

    2. It doesn't really take up too much room, just have it in the closet. Ha. But to save $600, I'll sleep on top of it! Lol. Our house is 2910 sq ft and it'll cover the 1st and 2nd floor. But if we overbought no biggie since it can be returned. We'll tint as we go.

  2. Congrats LuLu! Can't wait until we get a solid date, so we can lock in our rate. Hoping since we're on a very similar schedule with you, that our date will be pretty close.
We'll also be taking advantage of the paint sale over at Sherwin Williams.

    1. I'm sure you'll get your date soon. I wonder why yours is delayed - are you waiting on power?

    2. No power to the house yet, but the underground lines have been ran around the neighborhood.

    3. Lulu, congrats that is awesome. We are "supposed" to have been moved up to that same closing date but we haven't even had our pre drywall yet . wondering if that will hold us up!

  3. So exciting! Time is going to fly!

We also took advantage of the Sherwin Williams paint sale. We probably got about 20 gallons as well. We calculated it out for the basement, garage, and the entire 1st floor and it came out to about 20 gallons for the recommended two coats! I was shocked! We're not doing the upstairs yet. That can wait!

  4. Congrats! So exciting! I am an anti-SW advocate! I use Glidden, which even at regular price is about 1/2 the price of SW and just as good quality in my opinion. They don't have as many color choices, but you can just take a SW chip to Home Depot and have them match it.
